Research Description:

The long-term research goal is to understand the pathogenesis of herpes simplex virus (HSV) and periodontal pathogens. Our studies have shown that co-infection with either HSV-1 or Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans can enhance the production of both viral and bacterial DNA. This work contributes to a deeper molecular understanding of microbial pathogenesis in oral diseases.
